Welcome to ACES WEEKLY Volume 26, Week Two!
People ask me sometimes why I often describe Aces Weekly as a ' comic art magazine ' or ' comics art magazine ' rather than just a comic magazine or comic. On the one hand, I do it to emphasise the very strong art element of our comics - our very unusual format and style leans viewers towards giving greater attention than is usually the case to the visuals of our strips - and, on the other, to strongly point out that comics are an 'art '. I don't do that for all of us, of course - we all know it's a great art form - it's done for those who look from outside to peek into our world. To many of those, comics are still just a way of easily transmitting a story to those who don't read very well. Despite the cultural advances of recent times, that viewpoint maintains amongst a great mass of those ignorant of what comics art can do. So, I figure tapping on their heads with a little hammer is a good idea. Some are prejudiced enough against comics to deserve a bigger one. But then, that would probably count as being a bit more than emphatic...
